HoneyBoost sugar and calories: what one gummy adds to your day

Quick answer

Each HoneyBoost gummy has 10 calories and 3 g of added sugar, which the panel prints as 6% of the 50 g Daily Value (3/50). A 30-gummy bottle holds 90 g of added sugar in all (30 x 3). The label's serving size is 1 gummy, and the wrap prints no suggested-use line.

The panel

How much sugar is in a HoneyBoost gummy?

One HoneyBoost gummy has 3 g of total sugars, and all 3 g are added sugar. The panel prints that as 6% of the Daily Value (HoneyBoost label).

The same panel lists 10 calories and 3 g of total carbohydrate (1% of the Daily Value) for a serving of 1 gummy, which weighs 4.2 g. The Daily Value for added sugar is 50 g, so 3 g is 6% (3/50) (DGA 2020-2025, added sugars).

A bottle holds 30 gummies. Over a whole bottle, that adds up to 90 g of added sugar (30 x 3). It is spread over 30 servings, so a single gummy is a small amount. It still counts toward the day's total.

Sugar meter

How does the added sugar in HoneyBoost add up over a day?

It adds up from everything you eat, not from the gummy alone. Slide to the added sugar you get from the rest of the day and the jar fills.

The jar compares your total with two lines: the 50 g Daily Value the label uses, and the American Heart Association's limit for men, which is about 36 g.

Under both lines.

The gummy has 3 g of added sugar, 6% of the 50 g Daily Value (HoneyBoost label). 36 g a day is the American Heart Association's added-sugar limit for men (AHA, added sugars). It is a counting aid, not advice: ask a clinician what is right for you.

The 36 g figure is derived. The AHA statement gives calories, not grams, so treat it as about 36 g.

Reference limits

How much added sugar is too much in a day?

Two reference points are in common use. The Dietary Guidelines say to keep added sugars under 10% of calories, which is about 50 g on a 2,000-calorie diet (DGA 2020-2025, added sugars). The AHA says men should have no more than 150 calories a day from added sugar (AHA, added sugars).

That AHA limit works out to about 36 g, since sugar carries roughly 4 calories a gram (150/4 is 37.5). Rounding gives about 36 to 38 g, and we use 36 g, with the sum shown so you can check it.

One gummy is 3 g. Against 36 g, that is about 8% of the limit (3/36). Against the 50 g Daily Value, it is the 6% on the panel. Your own limit may differ if you have diabetes or another condition, and a clinician or dietitian can set it.

Diabetes and blood sugar

If you have diabetes or take diabetes medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist before adding any sugar-containing supplement. Keep taking prescribed medicine.

Other ingredients

What are the other ingredients in HoneyBoost gummies?

The panel lists sugar, corn syrup, water, pectin, citric acid, natural flavor, guar gum, tapioca starch, sodium citrate and artificial color. These make up the body of the gummy.

The six extract rows and zinc weigh 77.5 mg together, out of 4,200 mg. Everything else in the gummy comes from this list. In general terms, the groups do these jobs in a gummy:

  • Sugar and corn syrup: sweeteners that also give body. They supply the added sugar.
  • Pectin, guar gum and tapioca starch: thickeners and gelling agents that set the chew.
  • Citric acid and sodium citrate: acidity regulators that adjust the tartness.
  • Natural flavor: a flavoring defined in the food rules (eCFR 101.22, flavor and color). The label does not say what it is made from.
  • Artificial color: a category name for color additives that FDA permits (FDA, color additive Q&A). The label does not say which one.

The label prints "honey flavor" on the wrap, but there is no honey row on the panel. The word names the flavor and the brand, nothing more.

Two lines, one label

Does HoneyBoost contain artificial additives?

The panel lists "artificial color" among the other ingredients. The wrap also prints “Lab Tested, No Artificial Additives”. We cannot reconcile the two lines, and no lab report is on file.

FDA says "artificial color" names a category of permitted color additives (FDA, color additive Q&A). So the panel is saying a color was added, and it is the wrap line that raises the question. We do not call the gummy lab tested or free of additives, because we have seen no report that would let us.

The label also says the gummies are packaged in a facility that handles peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy and milk products. If you have an allergy, ask a clinician before you try them.

Do gummies match their labels?

Can the sugar and the extract amounts in gummies differ from the label?

They can. A 2023 JAMA study measured 25 melatonin gummies and found 74% to 347% of the labeled amount, with 88% off by more than 10% (Cohen 2023, gummy label accuracy).

That study looked at a different ingredient and did not test HoneyBoost. We mention it because gummy making is hard to get exact, and a batch lab report is how a buyer could check. For this gummy none is published. The lot and report numbers the seller gives are references, not lab proof.

We found no source on sugar and dental health in gummy supplements, so we make no claim either way. A dentist can answer that for you.

Safety lines

Chest pain, fainting or trouble breathing: call 911. A painful erection, or one lasting 4 hours or more, is an emergency: go to the emergency room. The label says not to take HoneyBoost if pregnant, lactating, with a medical condition or on other medications, and not under 18. Ask your doctor or pharmacist first about any prescription medicine. See medicine interactions.

FAQ

Sugar and calorie questions

How many calories are in a HoneyBoost gummy?

The panel prints 10 calories for a serving of 1 gummy (4.2 g). It lists 3 g of total carbohydrate, all of it sugar. A 30-gummy bottle therefore holds 300 calories in all (30 x 10).

Is HoneyBoost sugar free?

No. Each gummy has 3 g of added sugar, and sugar and corn syrup lead the other ingredients. Compared with the 50 g Daily Value, that is 6% per gummy. If you must limit sugar, ask your clinician.

Is HoneyBoost safe for people with diabetes?

We cannot say that. The label says not to take it with a medical condition or other medications, and each gummy has 3 g of added sugar. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using it, and keep taking prescribed medicine.

Does HoneyBoost contain real honey?

The panel lists no honey. The wrap says "HONEY FLAVOR," and the other ingredients include natural flavor. Honey appears in the brand name and the flavor, not as a row on the panel.

What is the artificial color in HoneyBoost?

The panel says "artificial color" and does not name it. FDA uses that term for a category of permitted color additives. The label does not say which one, so ask the order desk or the distributor.

What is the AHA added sugar limit for men?

The AHA says men should keep added sugar to no more than 150 calories a day. That is about 36 g, a figure we derived because the source gives calories. One gummy's 3 g is about 8% of it.
