Zinc gluconate and L-arginine for men: what the HoneyBoost amounts mean
Each HoneyBoost gummy prints 2.5 mg of zinc as zinc gluconate, 23% of the 11 mg Daily Value for men (2.5/11), and 10 mg of L-arginine. NIH sets the upper zinc limit at 40 mg a day. Arginine trials in men used 1,500 mg or more, and arginine can lower blood pressure. No trial tested HoneyBoost.

What are zinc gluconate and L-arginine?
Zinc is a mineral the body needs, and L-arginine is an amino acid; HoneyBoost prints one row for each.
The panel lists "Zinc (as zinc gluconate)" at 2.5 mg, with a Daily Value of 23%. It lists L-Arginine at 10 mg, with no Daily Value established (HoneyBoost label). The gummy is a dietary supplement, not a drug and not a capsule.
| Name on the label | Zinc (as zinc gluconate) and L-Arginine |
|---|---|
| What it is | Zinc is a mineral; the panel shows 2.5 mg as zinc gluconate, 23% of the 11 mg daily value for adult men (2.5/11). L-arginine is an amino acid, shown at 10 mg |
| What it is sold for | Sold for male vitality |
| Amount per gummy (label) | 2.5 mg zinc; 10 mg arginine |
| Amount used in research | NIH zinc fact sheet; two zinc and testosterone studies; arginine trials at 1,500 to 6,000 mg a day |
| What the studies found | NIH lists 11 mg a day as the recommended intake for men 19 and older and 40 mg as the upper limit for adults. In a 1996 study, restricting zinc lowered testosterone in four young men and supplementing raised it in nine zinc-deficient older men; a folate-and-zinc meta-analysis found no change in testosterone. For arginine, a review of 10 trials in men with mild to moderate ED used 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day, and a trial in 98 men used 6 g a day for three months. The gummy has 10 mg. |
| Main caution | Zinc can reduce absorption of some antibiotics, and 50 mg or more over weeks can interfere with copper. Arginine can lower blood pressure; ask a clinician if you take blood pressure medicines or nitrates. |
Zinc
How much zinc is in HoneyBoost, and is it enough?
One gummy holds 2.5 mg of zinc, 23% of the 11 mg Daily Value for adult men (2.5/11).
NIH gives 11 mg a day as the recommended intake for men and 40 mg a day as the upper limit for adults. These are reference levels, not study doses. Zinc can lower the absorption of some antibiotics, and high doses over weeks can interfere with copper, so ask a pharmacist if you take antibiotics (NIH ODS, zinc).
| Item | Amount | The arithmetic |
|---|---|---|
| HoneyBoost, per gummy | 2.5 mg | Printed |
| Recommended intake, men | 11 mg a day | 2.5 / 11 = 23% |
| Upper limit, adults | 40 mg a day | 2.5 / 40 = about 6% |
Zinc and testosterone
Does zinc affect testosterone?
Only when the body is short of zinc, in the two studies we read, and neither tested the HoneyBoost amount.
In a 1996 study, restricting zinc lowered testosterone in 4 young men, and zinc supplements raised it in 9 older men who were marginally deficient (Prasad 1996, zinc and T). A 2017 meta-analysis found that folate plus zinc did not change testosterone in sub-fertile men, though sperm measures rose (Irani 2017, folate and zinc meta).
We found no zinc-alone meta-analysis and no source on zinc and sexual function. Low testosterone is diagnosed with symptoms plus repeated morning blood tests (Endocrine Society testosterone).
L-arginine
Does L-arginine help men, and is 10 mg enough?
Arginine was studied at 1,500 mg a day or more, and 10 mg is under 1% of that (10/1,500).
A review of 10 trials in 540 men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction used 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day (Rhim 2019, arginine ED). One trial of 98 men used 6 g a day for 3 months (Menafra 2022, arginine ED). Mayo Clinic says oral arginine "might improve sexual function in men with ED due to a physical cause" (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Memorial Sloan Kettering calls the evidence mixed (MSK, Arginine).
No trial tested the gummy's 10 mg or HoneyBoost. The chart sets each label amount against its studied or reference level.
- Maca (root equivalent)100 mg on the label
Studies: gelatinized maca 1,500 and 3,000 mg a day (12 weeks) and a maca extract at 2,400 mg a day; the label's 10 mg extract equals 100 mg of root (10 x 10). Studies used about 15 to 30 times the label amount. (Gonzales 2002, maca desire and T) (Zenico 2009, maca and mild ED)
- Horny goat weed80 mg on the label
No human trial of horny goat weed extract at this dose was found; the reviews describe mostly cell and animal work. No human trial range found. (Niu 2022, icariin review) (Meng 2026, icariin and ED)
- Damiana (leaf equivalent)50 mg on the label
No human trial of damiana alone was found; human data come only from herb blends. No human trial range found. (Szewczyk 2014, damiana)
- Tongkat ali (extract)25 mg on the label
Studies: 200 mg a day of extract for one to three months in two open-label studies; the label's row is 25 mg of extract (equal to 2,500 mg root). Studies used about 8 times the label amount. (Tambi 2012, tongkat ali LOH) (Tambi 2010, tongkat ali fertility)
- Mucuna (seed extract)10 mg on the label
Study: 5 g (5,000 mg) of seed powder a day for three months, uncontrolled; the label's row is 10 mg of an extract at 98% L-DOPA. Studies used about 500 times the label amount. (Shukla 2010, mucuna in men) (RIVM 2024, mucuna risk assessment)
- L-arginine10 mg on the label
Studies: 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day in men with mild to moderate ED (10 trials) and 6 g a day in one trial. Studies used about 150 to 500 times the label amount. (Rhim 2019, arginine ED) (Menafra 2022, arginine ED)
- Zinc (as gluconate)2.5 mg on the label
Reference levels: 11 mg a day recommended for men and 40 mg a day upper limit for adults (NIH); not study doses. A reference level, not a study dose: the label is 6% of the higher level. (NIH ODS, zinc) (Prasad 1996, zinc and T)
Log scale: each gridline is ten times the one before. Studied ranges are daily amounts from the trials linked on each row; rows marked as a reference show a reference level, not a study dose. A bar being far away does not mean the gummy is unsafe or useless; it means the study results cannot be borrowed for it, because none tested HoneyBoost or this combination.

Can L-arginine lower blood pressure or interact with medicines?
Yes, arginine can lower blood pressure, so people on blood pressure medicines or nitrates should ask a doctor first.
A review of 11 trials in 387 people found that 4 to 24 g a day lowered systolic blood pressure by 5.4 mm Hg (Dong 2011, arginine BP). Mayo notes the same effect and lists side effects (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Arginine appeared to worsen peripheral artery disease in one study (MSK, Arginine). After a heart attack, one trial of 153 patients found no benefit and more deaths, and arginine "should not be recommended" then (Schulman 2006, VINTAGE MI).
Keep taking prescribed medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist first if you take nitrates, erectile-dysfunction drugs, blood pressure, Parkinson's, MAO-inhibitor, diabetes or blood-thinning medicines, or have a heart or liver condition. Chest pain, fainting or trouble breathing: call 911. A painful erection, or one lasting 4 hours or more, is an emergency: go to the emergency room (Urology Care, priapism).
Taking it
How should a man take a zinc and arginine gummy?
The wrap prints no suggested-use line; the panel's serving size is 1 gummy (4.2 g).
Follow the bottle and ask the order desk and a clinician. Another row, tongkat ali, is a possible rare cause of liver injury per NIH's LiverTox (LiverTox, tongkat ali); stop and get care for dark urine, yellow skin or eyes, or belly pain. Sexual-enhancement supplements as a group have had hidden drug ingredients in FDA warnings (FDA tainted sexual products); we have no lab report for HoneyBoost. FAQ
HoneyBoost questions people ask
How much zinc is in HoneyBoost?
Each gummy lists 2.5 mg of zinc as zinc gluconate, 23% of the 11 mg Daily Value for adult men (2.5/11). NIH's upper limit for adults is 40 mg a day, so the gummy holds about 6% of it.
Does zinc raise testosterone?
In a 1996 study, supplements raised it in 9 marginally deficient older men, and restriction lowered it in 4 young men. A folate-plus-zinc meta-analysis found no change. Neither tested HoneyBoost.
How much L-arginine is in HoneyBoost?
Each gummy lists 10 mg of L-arginine, with no Daily Value established. Trials in men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction used 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day, so 10 mg is under 1% of 1,500 mg.
Can L-arginine lower blood pressure?
Yes. A review of 11 trials found 4 to 24 g a day lowered systolic pressure by 5.4 mm Hg. The gummy has far less, but ask a doctor if you take blood pressure medicines or nitrates.
Does zinc interact with antibiotics?
It can. NIH notes zinc can reduce the absorption of some antibiotics, so ask a pharmacist if you take one. High zinc doses over weeks can also interfere with copper.
Does the HoneyBoost label say how to take it?
The panel gives a serving size of 1 gummy (4.2 g), but the wrap prints no suggested-use line. Follow the bottle and ask the order desk and a clinician. Do not take it if pregnant, lactating, under 18 or on other medications.
