Label checks

Testosterone booster pills: five label checks before you buy

Quick answer

Testosterone booster pills and supplements are best judged on five label lines: the amount of each ingredient in milligrams, the extract ratio, what the product is standardized to, a lab report for your batch, and the warnings. No trial tested HoneyBoost.

Five checks

What should you check on testosterone booster pills?

Check five lines on testosterone booster pills before you read any claim: amounts, ratios, standardization, a batch lab report and warnings.

Label lines and what each can show
LineWhat to look for
Amount in mgEach ingredient listed alone; a "blend" total hides the split
Extract ratioA figure like 10:1 names the raw herb used, not strength
Standardized toA named compound and a percentage, and who measured it
Lab reportA report for your batch; a phrase on the front is not one
WarningsMedicines, pregnancy, age, allergens

Ratios

What do extract ratios and standardization mean on a supplement?

A ratio tells you how much raw plant went into the extract, and standardization names a compound the maker aims to measure.

A 100:1 tongkat ali extract at 25 mg is the concentrate of about 2,500 mg of root (25 x 100), not 2,500 mg of root in the product. Studies of tongkat ali used 200 mg a day of extract (Tambi 2012, tongkat ali LOH). See the extract ratio guide.

Mucuna rows list a percentage of L-DOPA. The Dutch assessment found labels at 15% to 40% of the extract (RIVM 2024, mucuna risk assessment). The HoneyBoost row prints 98% (9.8 mg in 10 mg), a figure we cannot check without a lab report.

Testing

Why does a lab report matter for a testosterone booster supplement?

A lab report matters because the sexual-enhancement category has documented hidden drug ingredients.

In one analysis, 74 of 91 products labeled herbal for sexual performance (81%) contained sildenafil, tadalafil or analogs that were not declared, and only 14 warned against use with nitrates (Campbell 2013, adulterated supplements). The FDA has issued similar warnings (FDA tainted sexual products).

We have no lab report for HoneyBoost. We do not say it contains any such drug or that it is free of them.

Keep your care plan

Keep taking prescribed medicine. Chest pain, fainting or trouble breathing: call 911. An erection lasting 4 hours or more: go to the emergency room.

A worked example

How does HoneyBoost score on these checks?

HoneyBoost passes the printing checks and fails the testing ones.

It is a gummy, not a pill. Every amount is printed, there is no proprietary blend, and four rows print ratios. The wrap prints "Lab Tested, No Artificial Additives" while the panel lists artificial color, and no lab report is on file. No trial tested it.

FAQ

Testosterone booster supplements: quick questions

Are testosterone booster pills regulated like medicines?

No. The FDA does not approve supplements before they are sold, and a product meant to treat a disease counts as a drug. Supplements can interact with medicines, so ask a pharmacist before adding one to your routine.

What does standardized to 98% mean on a supplement?

It names a compound, here L-DOPA, and says the extract is set to hold that share. It does not show who tested it or what the batch holds; only a lab report for your batch can check the figure.

Can a testosterone booster supplement hide drugs?

The category has a documented problem: an analysis found undeclared sildenafil, tadalafil or analogs in 81% of products labeled herbal for sexual performance, a category fact, not a claim about HoneyBoost. Ask a clinician if you take nitrates.
